Inside the sleeve there is a loop in which to place the thumb. This loop can be positioned differently (thanks to the Velcro fasteners) in order to improve comfort and adjustment.
Close the sleeve with its Velcro fastener.
Position the adjustable shoulder strap around the neck on the opposite side of the injured limb. The tube-shaped padding of the shoulder strap can be moved for greater comfort.
The shoulder strap can be adjusted on the front and on the back. If the strap is too long please read the paragraph on "How to shorten straps".
Use for immobilisation in abduction
Position the sling around the waist and insert it into the loop on the back of the abduction pad. Fold the strap back onto itself and fix it using the Velcro fastener. To ensure the strap holds correctly it may be necessary to invert the Velcro fastener of the crocodile clips, removing them in order to position them in the right sense. If the strap is too long please read the paragraph on "How to shorten straps".
Only if the brace is used for 15° abduction, Smartsling® has an underarm pad to reduce pressure on the ulnar nerve. This pad can be positioned under the arm by attaching it to the abduction pad with the specific Velcro fastener.
Use for immobilisation in adduction
Position the strap around the waist and pass it through the loop at the end of the sleeve at elbow height.
How to shorten straps
All the Smartsling® straps have crocodile clips so they can easily be cut. If the strap is too long, simply remove the crocodile clip, cut the strap to the desired length and reposition the clip.
